Community Service Programs (CSP) are what we do as a Woman’s Club and part of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs (GFWC) community service.
There are five Community Service Programs, with volunteer chairs. Each CSP has three responsibilities:
- Be in charge of one interesting and informative monthly program during the year,
- Suggest tours and excursions of interest to our members, and
- Provide service to the community.
These responsibilities are in support of the Board of Trustee’s four main goals: 1) focus on community service, 2) increase social opportunities for our members and guests, 3) increase volunteer opportunities in the community, and 4) double our membership to double our community impact!
The five Community Service Programs are:
- Arts and Culture: Inspires members to promote and support arts activities and engage the creative ambiance in their lives. It includes arts, crafts, literature, performing arts and other creative activities. The Arts program provides a framework for club women to pursue a variety of artistic interests while educating their communities on the important role art plays in our lives.
- Environment: Helps people gain an appreciation for our environment. It includes energy awareness, resource conservation and solid waste management. Encourages us to be stewards of the earth: 1) Preserve the world’s resources, protect wildlife and domesticated animals, 2) Live sustainably, and 3) Beautify our communities and enjoy nature.
- Education and Libraries: Works to improve literacy and education awareness. The Education program encourages club women to create learning opportunities for themselves and their communities through volunteerism. We help others, while continuing to learn ourselves. Programs are designed to foster schools and educational institutions, and to promote literacy, libraries, and the love of a good book. This groups also oversees the scholarship award programs of the club.
- Civic Engagement and Outreach: Enables members to become better citizens through advocacy, education and action to effect change. It includes cultural exchange, outreach for children and United Nations information. International Outreach allows clubs to reach beyond their own communities through education and awareness. The four “broad strokes” of this effort include: 1) Citizenship; 2) Crime Prevention, Safety, and Disaster Preparedness; 3) The Needy, Hungry, and Homeless; and 4) Our Military Personnel and Veterans.
- Health and Wellness: Educates and informs members on issues that affect the home life of individuals and families. Also provides opportunities to volunteer to meet the needs of the community. To improve our well being, there are three key components: 1) Nutrition, 2) Disease prevention, and 3) Physical and emotional care.
